Ⅰ Research on Advanced Composite Structures and Aeronautical Fluid Dynamics for Next-Generation Aircrafts

The research includes “Advanced composite materials and structures”, “Structural health monitoring and smart structures”, “Laminar-turbulent transition for reduction of aerodynamic drag and noise” and “Aerodynamics design optimization for next-generation transports/future air vehicles”. The research on advanced composite technologies is cooperated with Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.

Our goal is to find solutions and formulate concrete countermeasure scenarios to deal with the various water related problems facing Asian Metropolitan Areas: damage to cities caused by heavy rains and flooding, water resources, securing safe drinking water, reservoir and river pollution, and coastal erosion.

Ⅳ Development of rapid and high reliable diagnostic methods for prevention of emerging and reemerging infectious diseases

Through a two-step screening system by fusion of two diagnostic methods based on different principles, a non-contact instantaneous sensing method and a rapid reliable bio-assay method, infected individuals can be identified within a short time and with a positive predictive value (PPV) of 90%. By establishing this screening system at airports and diagnosis institutes, emerging and reemerging of the infection can be prevented and further spread inhibited.
